Many hours discussing and calculating - with all passion for the racing - the money is also somethings to be considered. After all: we are not in the money printing business :) ! Of course first question was: “what class to race?” There was not so much options to discuss, Trophy Truck was out of the question. This is to much for a team basically to start up knowing there will be set-backs and appointments as with any new project. So the next logical thing is Class 8. This was the premium class in offroad desert racing until the baja trophy truck class got “invented”

What are the requirements for class 8??
Here are the specific rules for class 8:

  • Chassis:Original wheelbase ±2 inches must be maintained. Frames may be strengthened by adding material but must retain original stock configuration. No lengthening or narrowing of frame is allowed. No removal of material is allowed.
  • Body:Must maintain a production appearing body. Stock appearing grill and head light opening must be retained. Body subject to SCORE approval. The measurement from the centerline of the front spindle to the back of the B‑pillar post must remain stock ±1″.

Before we show the next rules that are important to us here’s the twist at our project. As one of the most established Baja Land Development companies, Baja Quest Developments and it’s sub division Newtek Construction Solutions is actively promoting the use of resource friendly. He is not only general importer for QuadLock and QuadDeck ICF building materials for Mexico. Les Zwaryck is in it with passions to do his little share to save energy and leave a smaller carbon footprint on the environment. And this for many years at the southern Baja Peninsula. It would be them days somewhat controversial to operate a race-team running a gas-guzzing V8 that sucks high octane race fuel when you can do the same with a diesel running on fuel from the pump, 600 hp are not very difficult to achive with a Cumming Diesel. The guy’s at KORE show it and we want to join this club of racers with our team. Maybe it’s a vision for down the road in a few years. VW, Nissan, BWM all race in other offroad series as the Baja like the Dakar diesel powered vehicles. They do not just run - they win!!

Starting in 2008 - New tech rules to allow Turbo-Diesel-powered vehicles to race in three vehicle classes in SCORE Desert Series

Turbo-Diesels to be able to race in SCORE Trophy-Truck, Class 8 and Stock Full starting with January’s SCORE Laughlin Desert Challenge

Adding another dimension to the world of desert racing, SCORE International announced today that is has adopted a new rule package that will allow Turbo-Diesel-powered vehicles
to race in three classes in the SCORE Desert Series, the world’s foremost desert racing series. Starting with the 2008 season, which begins January 24-27 at the SCORE Laughlin Desert
Challenge in Nevada, Turbo-Diesel vehicles will be allowed to run in the marquee SCORE Trophy-Truck division along with Class 8 and Stock Full. “SCORE has always been the leader in our sport and SCORE has always been the innovator so it is a very natural progression for SCORE to develop and implement a rule package allowing and governing the use of Turbo-Diesel race vehicles in our six-race SCORE Desert Series,” said Sal Fish, President/CEO of Los Angeles-based SCORE International. “We fully realize that environmental concerns are changing the way motorsports is done and anything SCORE can do to help achieve the goals of cleaner air and more fuel-efficient vehicles is something that SOCRE is honored to initiate in our sport.” All three classes SCORE has selected to pioneer this new rule package have significant crossover value in the general marketplace. SCORE Trophy-Truck is the premier class in all of desert racing, featuring 800-horsepower, unlimited production trucks. Class 8 is the workhorse in the history of the sport for full-sized two-wheel drive trucks
while Stock Full is for stock, full-sized trucks.
